Our Outdoor Spaces
We are extremely fortunate at Hatfeild to be set in such beautiful surroundings. Our outdoor spaces provide children with so many fantastic opportunities to learn and play.
We have a large outdoor space that leads out from our Nursery classroom. This is purpose built and provides an exclusive space for our Nursery children to play in. It is equipped with age-appropriate imaginative play equipment, including a track to ride cars and bikes, climbing apparatus, a bug hotel and a mud kitchen to name but a few.
Our Reception classes also benefit from their own outdoor space. This includes climbing equipment with a slide, planting areas as well as a wetpour surface area for use in all weathers. This area is used throughout the day in all weathers.
We are very lucky to have a supportive group of parents who, with staff and children, keep our grounds looking beautiful. Our Key Stage One playground boasts a tranquil sensory garden that is full of attractive greenery and flower beds and an accessible roundabout. We are lucky to have great support from our parent association, the HSA, who have funded lots of playground equipment and markings.
The jewel in our crown is our willow field. This is surrounded by established bushes and is a fantastic area for the children to play and explore. We have recently been lucky enough to receive funding for an outdoor classroom on the Willow field, offering shade during the summer months as well as an extension to the classrooms, providing many opportunities for outdoor learning.
Lastly, we have two large AstroTurf pitches that are used for break times and PE in all weather. The children enjoy hosting other schools for sporting tournaments and taking part in house competitions using our array of sporting pitches.
