Behaviour
At Hatfeild, we set high standards for the behaviour of our children both in and out of school.
Visitors, parents and people we meet on educational visits and school trips often comment on and compliment the behaviour of our pupils and the respect they show to their surroundings.
Our aim is to ensure that everyone feels happy, safe and valued, and we work hard to create a caring environment that focuses on building positive relationships amongst all who are part of the school community. We have very high expectations of behaviour from all of our children.
Our Behaviour policy and Anti-Bullying policies are reviewed regularly, in consultation with the school council and at the beginning of every school year, children decide their classroom rules with their class teacher, which are displayed in classrooms.
Every class has an ARK (Acts of Random Kindness) book displayed. This is where children can nominate one another for positive behaviours. These nominations are shared with the whole school in our Celebration Assembly.
We are a positive noticing school, our three main whole school rules are:
- Be Ready
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
All staff look out for these behaviours throughout the week and write certificates for children when they notice positive behaviours.
We recognise children for the amount of effort that they have put into their learning. Teachers select a child from their class each week to bring a piece of their learning to show to the Heads of School. These children are given a headteacher award and their work is on display in school for the week.
