Our Music Statement
At Hatfeild Primary School we make sure that children develop descriptive skills in music lessons when learning about how music can represent feelings and emotions.
We teach them how to recognise pulse and pitch and the importance of working with others to compose music and perform for an audience.
Through singing songs, children learn about the structure and organisation of music. We teach them to listen and appreciate different forms of music too.
We thread music into the curriculum throughout the school using a programme called Charanga which the children really enjoy with the aid of a specialist music teacher in Key Stage 2.
During assemblies, we listen, learn and celebrate songs from different cultures so that the children are exposed to music that they may not have heard before.
