Year 3 Curriculum
Our classes in Year 3 are Strong Class and King-Smith Class, named after the authors Jeremy Strong and Dick King-Smith.
Please see some of the topics we cover each year.
Mighty MetalsAutumn 1
You're an engineer, a scientist, a maker of men (iron men, of course). Explore the scientific world of forces and magnetism, metals and materials. Expand your mind as you test and trial, build and move. Which force is at play as you slide down a slide or swing on a swing? Can you explain why magnets repel and attract?
Skills BuilderAutumn 2
Listening, Speaking, Problem Solving, Creativity, Staying Positive, Aiming High, Leadership, Teamwork.
Children who are able to master the essential skills can make the most of their time in school, and thrive in their wider lives. Working with the Skills Builder Partnership can support every child to build those skills as a core part of their learning.

It's time to take a walk on the wild side. Find out who's coming to visit. Is it a bug munching lizard or an eagle-eyed bird of prey? Whatever it is, do you think you can handle it? Then use what you know about the best of the beasts to create the ultimate predator; the apex of the food chain. Feeling peckish? Let's jump aboard the food chain.
Tuck in and enjoy a yummy journey of discovery, tasting fantastic fruits, venerable vegetables and tantalizing treats. Work up an appetite with delicious stories about food, have fun with a vegetable orchestra or become a fruity sculptor. Then get busy in the kitchen, making tasty dishes from across the world and discover how good food helps you grow fit and strong. If you are what you eat, what does that make you?
