Inclusion

At Hatfeild, we provide an inclusive education for all abilities of children within our care. If you have concerns about a child’s progress or behaviour and feel that additional support may be needed, it is important to have a conversation with your child's class teacher.

A record of concern is written in the first instance (unless concerns and intervention needed is more pressing) and this is shared with parents.  If, despite the support given on the record of concern, the progress or behaviour continues to be a concern, an SEN Support Plan will then need to be written to set targets and the intervention needed to achieve these targets.   The child’s name will then be placed on the special educational needs register (SEN register) under SEN Support.

If a child is on the special educational needs register, SEN Support Plans are reviewed and written termly.

For those children with significant difficulties and, despite intensive intervention, both in school and through outside agency, continue to be a concern, then the school may decide to request that the Local Authority make an assessment of the child’s needs, with the view to  Education, Health and Care Plan being given to the child.  This comes with top-up funding.  A child with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) will have an amount of funds allocated to them to support them making progress in their area of need.
