30 Hour Nursery Placement Offer

Who is eligible for the 30 hour offer?

The additional hours will be available to children in families where:

•both parents are working (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family)

•each parent earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage (NMW) or national living wage (NLW), and less than £100,000 per year.

• it is a one parent household and the working parent meets the income rules.

•Working will include employed and self-employed persons.

•Hatfeild Primary School provides Nursery education for 3 and 4 year olds for 15 hours per week, the term after they are three, under the Government’s Free Early ‘Universal’ Education offer.

•From September 2017, some children became eligible for an additional 15 hours free early education each week, known as the ‘extended’ entitlement. This offer is available to working families.

To check availability you can visit the Government’s Childcare Choices website childcarechoices.gov.uk.

If you are eligible, you will receive a code to take to your preferred provider.

 Can I extend my offer?

Hatfeild Primary School does offer eligible parents the option to use their extended entitlement in our Nursery which would mean they can access 30 hours of free childcare if they combine the universal and extended entitlements.  However, as our school Nursery is open from 8.45am to 3.15pm there will be an additional half hour per day that parents will need to pay for.

There will be an additional charge of £25 per week for each child, this must be paid in order to make use of this option.

We will offer families who are not eligible for the extended entitlement the option of paying for additional hours so that their children can attend our Nursery from 8.45am until 3.15pm. Children taking this option would need to attend each day at a cost of £150 per week - this is calculated at a daily rate of £30 for each additional session.

These offers are available term time only.

Why should my child attend a full time place in our nursery?

We believe that accessing a full time place in our school nursery has a number of benefits which include:

•Access to a provision that is led by fully qualified teachers – this has had a very positive impact on outcomes for children in neighbouring boroughs where this system is already in place.

•Fewer transitions between different providers throughout the day; therefore providing continuity and consistency in approach.

•The transition to compulsory full time education in Reception will be an even smoother process.

If you have any questions with regard to a full-time nursery place for your child, please speak to the school office.
